Growing Industrial Hemp for Fiber

Want to get involved in growing hemp for fiber but don't know where to start? Join HAT, TDA, and the University of Tennessee's Agricultural Extension for an event focused on industrial hemp's applications in fiber.

The event will take place on January 24, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at UT Martin Ripley Center (325 South Washington St., Ripley, TN 38063).

The following speakers will lead individual sessions with question and answer periods to follow:

  • Frederick Cawthon, President of the Hemp Alliance of Tennessee and Walter Battle, an Area Specialist with UT Extension Services will lead a session on the Opportunities and Challenges Growing Fiber Hemp

  • Bill Corbin of Corbin Sciences will discuss Fiber Hemp Field Trials

  • Kyle Hensley, Business Development Consultant and Denise Woods, Hemp Program Coordinator with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture will discuss the Department of Agriculture Structure and Supports

  • Nick Walters, Managing Partner, and Max Howell, National Membership Coordinator with the National Hemp Growers Cooperative will present a session: Co-Op 101
